Minecraft is finally coming to Chromebooks: all the details

Microsoft is releasing an early version of “Minecraft: Bedrock Edition” for Chromebooks.

The game includes cross-device play with friends, access to the Minecraft Marketplace and the ability to play with Realms, the company said in a Minecraft blog post on Wednesday.

“While it’s not yet available for everyone to buy (full release coming later), it’s an exciting step towards bringing Minecraft to even more people.”

Early Access means that in this first phase, only Chromebooks that meet certain minimum requirements will be able to purchase Minecraft.

So users need to check Google Play Store if the game is available for them.

With the early access version, the company aims to test the performance of the game before making it available to more players.

“Between now and the official release date, we’re working hard to make sure Minecraft runs smoothly on Chromebooks,” the tech giant said.

“We don’t have a confirmed release date for the full version of Minecraft for Chromebook yet, but once it’s officially released, anyone with a compatible Chromebook can download it from the Google Play Store,” it added.
